We are delighted to welcome Caitlin Baron, the inaugural Chief Executive Officer for the Luminos Fund.
Caitlin has spent ten years with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in senior leadership roles which have prepared her well for the challenge of launching the Luminos Fund. We are tremendously excited to have her on board and we’re confident that under her leadership the Fund will mobilise at least $250m to help millions of out-of-school children get back to school and back to a life of opportunity.
The Luminos Fund is based on the success of the Speed School programme funded by the Legatum Foundation, which has helped over 100,000 children get back to school in West Africa and Ethiopia. With the concept proven, anchor donor Legatum Foundation and fund manager, Geneva Global, are scaling the programme into a pooled funding vehicle enabling many more donors to collaborate to help out-of-school children get back to class.
Similar to the END Fund and Freedom Fund, which Legatum also helped to launch, the Luminos Fund combines the rigour and discipline of the investment world with the purpose and passion of the philanthropic sector in order to optimise impact.
