Nigeria: Local ownership, local champions

The END Fund

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa has the highest burden of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The END Fund works with local partners in the region who know how to navigate the complexities of their country, which is the key to ensuring successful programmes.

This video tells the story of Franca Olamiju, Executive Director of MITOSATH, and Rita Aimiuwu, the Founder and President of Amen Health Care, who alongside the END Fund, are leading the charge to beat NTDs in Nigeria.

The END Fund was founded by the Legatum Foundation in 2012 to control and eliminate the most prevalent neglected diseases among the world's poorest and most vulnerable people. Supported by a growing community of global philanthropists, the END Fund provides financing for nationwide disease control initiatives, creating new programmes, supplementing existing ones, and using leveraged funds to extend and deepen impact.
